About Shobosho

Leigh Street runs on live wood fire and smoke at Shobosho, an energetic izakaya where charcoal-grilled plates meet sharp kitchen craft. Grab a stool along the kitchen bench for front-row views of chefs turning skewers over coals, or tuck into a booth for the five-course banquet. Standouts hit the table in rapid rhythm—duck potstickers, wood-baked shallot bread slicked with onion oil, and blue swimmer crab udon tossed in yuzu dashi butter. Solo diners can sample widely with half-serves on request, while the bar shakes whiskey behind a cap of matcha foam.

  • Kitchen Bench Seating: Counter stools directly face the kitchen and yakitori grill for a close view of live-fire cooking.
  • Wood-Grilled Plates: Plates pair Japanese technique with bold accents, including blue swimmer crab udon and duck potstickers.
  • Solo Half-Portions: Single guests can request half-sized portions of select dishes to explore more of the menu.
  • Matcha Cocktails & Sake: Curated sakes, wines, and signature cocktails like whiskey topped with matcha foam.

  • Atmospheric Booths for Celebrations and Dates

Intimate booths provide privacy for couples celebrating special occasions while remaining immersed in the restaurant's vibrant pulse.

whilst the booths give privacy, there is still enough connection with the communal area to feel part of the beating heart of the restaurant.

  • Grilled Leek

The flesh is soft and creamy on the inside, but on the outside a strong char flavour which is excellent and a little jarring for contrast.
