About East Taste Cafe

When Gouger Street goes dark, this Chinatown mainstay keeps the woks firing until 1:00 AM—and 2:00 AM on weekends. It is the unpretentious supper spot night-shift workers and post-game crowds rely on for hot, seated dining when everywhere else is shuttered or strictly booking-only. Big portions, honest prices, zero fuss. The kitchen moves fast, dishing out crisp shallot pancakes, deeply seasoned Peking beef, and tender velveted chicken alongside cold beer. Night owls lean hard on the off-menu congee with century egg and youtiao, while plant-based diners can count on dedicated allergen care and custom adaptations like mapo bean curd. The table standard remains the salt and pepper eggplant, fried crisp with chilli and garlic.

  • Late-night kitchen: Full-menu dining running until 1:00 AM on weeknights and 2:00 AM on weekends.
  • Supper classics: Crowd favorites span crisp shallot pancakes, Peking beef, and seasoned salt and pepper eggplant.
  • Dietary flexibility: Kitchen readily adapts clay pots and noodle plates with zero-cross-contamination care.
