About Ballaboosta

Halifax Street’s go-to for wood-fired flatbreads, spiced mezze plates, and thin-crust pizzas built for communal feasts. The kitchen runs all day—a godsend during Adelaide’s quiet mid-afternoon stretch. Regulars rely on the char of the hearth: think freshly baked pita dipped into thick labne, sizzling wood-fired breakfast eggs with spiced lamb, and chargrilled eggplant topped with toasted pine nuts. Tables spill outside beneath generous summer shade, transitioning seamlessly into heated winter corners for crisp evenings paired with red wine.

  • Wood-Fired Hearth: Bakes thin-crust pizzas, blistered pita flatbreads, and breakfast eggs directly in the hearth.
  • Continuous Afternoon Service: Keeps the kitchen firing between 3pm and 6pm when most city dining rooms close.
  • Mezze & Pizza Menu: Spans Lebanese spiced skewers, chargrilled eggplant, and Italian-style pizzas for sharing.

  • Fresh Wood-Fired Hearth Baking

An active on-site wood-fired hearth produces fresh, warm pita, blistered flatbreads, and baked morning dishes with distinct charred flavour.

Their wood-fired bread is really great, especially paired with labne. The coffee is also excellent. I love the vibes and the atmosphere.

Guests can enjoy specialty coffee alongside hearty baked dishes like shakshuka and wood-fired eggs, making it a reliable morning and post-workout stop.

We tried the wood-fired eggs with lamb and pine nuts and the sausage breakfast, both of which were delicious and full of flavor.

Before you head over

Helpful advice on seating, timing, and ordering for your visit

  • Choose outdoor seating for extra space

Tables indoors can feel close together and tight to navigate when busy; opt for the shaded outdoor area in warm weather or under the outdoor heaters in cooler months for more elbow room.

  • Drop in during mid-afternoon lulls

If you find yourself searching for a hearty Mediterranean meal during the typical mid-afternoon kitchen shutdown between 3pm and 6pm, Ballaboosta keeps serving simple, rustic plates.

  • Order dishes for the whole table to share

Dishes can emerge staggered as they finish in the kitchen and wood-fired oven; plan on ordering mezze, skewers, and pizzas to share communally rather than expecting synchronized individual mains.
